, cate caugiran, cbs 5. >>> we now know it was an 11- year-old boy from daly city that is killed in a police pursuit in pasadena on christmas day. police and fbi agents were conducting a gang sweep when they started following a car that committed a traffic violation. the suspects took off and eventually hit a minivan carrying a family from daly city. an adult and 11-year-old were killed in the car. three others in the minivan were injured, as well. four suspects are arrested and face murder charges. >>> the search is on for suspects in a gang-related shooting in south san jose last night short live before 9 p.m. in the area off serenade and lullaby drives. officers safe the suspect started an altercation with the victim, shot him and then took off. the victim taken to the hospital, no word yet on his condition. >>> apparently the smell is what led to the discovery of a ghoulish plot. two people are under arrest now for what was found in the backyard of a home on warren avenue in vallejo. it was a badly decomposed body. richard romer of alameda died two years ago at the age of 56.

with tornadoes and snow flurries. cbs reporter danielle nottingham tells us six deaths are blamed on this powerful system. >> reporter: the clean-up is beginning in the gulf states after a series of tornadoes hit on christmas day. >> whoa! it's right here, it's right here! >> reporter: in mobile, alabama, twisters ripped roofs off homes and toppled trees in texas. in all, more than 100,000 are without power across most of the south. >> i was screaming and hollering, i mean, i was just scared to death. >> reporter: the national weather service recorded at least 34 tornadoes from texas to alabama. the same storm system is bringing snow to the midwest from oklahoma to pennsylvania. blizzard warnings are out from arkansas to maine. in indianapolis, white-out conditions are making driving treacherous. some areas saw more than a foot of the white stuff. the storm caused the cancellation of more than 500 flights on christmas. hundreds more are expected today. for victor cav layer row his flight back home to los angeles will have to wait. >> it got canceled so we got stuck for the day and

doppler is lit up. check in with cbs five, i guess a little christmas rain. >> yeah. i think this will stop toward the afternoon. we will see heavier amounts of rain moving in. our radar picking up on that activity right now. even some thunderstorms as the resulting to show -- starting to show up. we had a few showers move on through but now the rain is picking up. you can see the cell there is and more to come throughout the afternoon. we will see brief periods of heavy rain, strong gusty winds and again you could see some of the isolated thunderstorms passing through the bay area. at lot of that right now the yellows and oranges, near bodega bay. this is all spreading south. into the afternoon we are expecting heavy amounts of rainfall. that could be a concern. we could see local flooding, not that we will see a lot of rain but maybe an inch of rain. maybe two inches over the mountain top. maybe a half inch down to san jose. a good soaker coming our wake stay inside and have a merry christmas. >> thank you. this latest series of rain could be a big problem for people near
